Mobile or PC- The Battle for Popularity

Over the past decade the number of casino players worldwide has increased but when looking at the details of each player and where they are playing it is a very interesting read. Social gaming players still tend to prefer the larger screens of the PC's because of the enhanced graphics they can get but there has been a steady decline in the number of social gaming apps played on PCs in the last few years due to the increased convenience of the mobile phones and tablets. Casino gaming has also decreased on PCs but not in the same way. Social gaming has increased in popularity in recent years due to the better apps and technical data that mobile phones and tablets offer giving better options for the social gaming platforms.

A Worrying Decline in Casino Players

In 2014 there were 158 million casual social casino players in general on PC'ss and mobile devices, today in 2017 there has been a huge drop and the numbers stand at only 84 million. What has been happening is that players are preferring to play on mobile devices. The mobile devices are so technically advanced that players do not need to go to their PC's in order to enjoy the games. But, it seems that players are spending less money when playing through their mobile devices and the players get bored more quickly and therefore change games more quickly. Less time is spent on each game and hence less money. It could be that players are using their mobile devices to fill in time when travelling or in meetings and so on and therefore not devoting as much time and effort to the casino games as they would if they were sitting in front of a PC or a laptop. The change in trends of gaming online and mobile gaming is definitely a cause for concern in the casino gaming industry who are now working on new ingenious ways to entice players to spend more time and money on the games whether on a PC or a mobile device.
